Saechsen Lament

Verse 1

Whispers spoken in a foreign tongue,
Can't be long now 'til the morning comes.

Distant thunder and the sound of drums,
I belong now to the morning ones.
I've been wronged now more times than you know,
Was I wrong now, for letting it show ?

Hoof beats pounding on the sodden ground,
And the burial mounds.

If I can't be found;
Seek me out here where the grass grows green,
In my lover's dreams,
And the battle scenes.

My blood flows clean,
In the evergreens (repeat)

Verse 2

Dawn stag startled by the storm-crow's cry,
Where the trees form lines,
As they heave and sigh.

Folding, fighting just to hold their ground,
As the walls came down,
And the silence drowns.

And the moon still hides her sorrow,
Moonbeams bind tomorrow down.

My memories collide and toil,
Through the swords, thorns, clouds and soil,
And the banner seems to tow my lover down.

Nature parodies and runs me over,
'Till my lover's green grass holds me to her,
And soothes me as she whispers in the leaves.

Whilst daffodils and green grass still tell,
The place where my true love fell,
My blood still flows clean.

Yeah my blood flows clean,
In the evergreens (repeat)
